Biomarkers have become a unique tool for disease prediction. Precisaúde has set itself the challenge of developing their application in three priority areas for Galicia and is very relevant at the global level.

The first is the field of oncology, with new biomarkers to improve the early diagnosis of cancer, the early detection of relapse in oncological patients, and population screening.

Secondly, solutions are being sought to evaluate treatments for obesity that will make it possible to optimize their efficacy by anticipating patient response.

The third area is mental health, with biomarkers capable of early identification of signals indicating the chances to suffer a disorder or changes in the evolution of already diagnosed individuals.
